Late last year, I committed to you that we would make some major moves in 2019 to make RealSelf easier to use and deliver a greater return on investment. The newly launched RealSelf Network is the paradigm that’s going to get us there, capturing the four pillars of my 2019 commitments in one high-impact program.
For more than a decade, RealSelf has focused on giving patients a voice and empowering them with access to treatment information and patient reviews. That work was undoubtedly beneficial to consumers, but there’s another enduring problem in the aesthetics marketplace that we are perfectly positioned to address: the sheer amount of information available sometimes leads to confusion and decision fatigue. After researching treatments, browsing Top 10 lists, and studying dozens of four- and five-star reviews, consumers’ most urgent question is often still, “Now which doctor should I actually choose to perform my treatment?” In fact, 60% of consumers who are ready to move forward with a cosmetic procedure say finding the right doctor is their number one challenge.
The great news is that we’ve adapted our model to make it easier to identify doctors who meet our standards for transparency, trust, engagement, helpful content, customer service, positive patient reviews, and credentials. With the RealSelf Network, we’re reengineering the RealSelf experience to elevate RealSelf Verified Members all across the platform and truly facilitate more confident decision making for consumers.
RealSelf Network doctors receive a blue RealSelf Verified check mark, which is our new shorthand for that standard.” And my product and design teams reimagined RealSelf Verified Members’ elite profiles to help them stand out and put the information consumers most want to know front-and-center.
I think we got this right. We worked closely with your peers on our Advisory Board to create the RealSelf Network—you can read more details about all of the features and benefits here—and I was thrilled by the response from doctors who previewed the RealSelf Network at ASAPS, where all of our early adopter slots were filled.
We are making trust a priority by aligning doctor success on RealSelf with trustworthiness, and I’m excited that RealSelf will be one of the technology platforms that is leading that charge. Not only is trustworthiness critical for consumers when choosing an aesthetic doctor, but it’s a principal that has been eroded in consumers’ digital lives in general.
